Thanks for taking the time to find out more about our club.

We’ve been coaching gymnastics for over 20 years and have no plans of slowing down…

Our history

We’re a gymnastics club with a proud past. Founded over 20 years ago, we’ve quickly grown to be one of the leading gymnastics clubs in Walsall, with three centres to choose from when deciding where you want your child to train. Over the last two decades we’ve worked with children of a range of abilities and experience, and take pride in the opportunities afforded to them. These include working towards our certificates awards programme, competing in Active Gym led competitions and some even going on to be coaches at our club!

Originally set up with a few mats in a hall in 2002, Active Gym has developed into a club with a location in Rushall, Bloxwich and Walsall Wood, with each gymnasium being kitted out with high level apparatus and led by our fantastic coaching team. Each centre is equipped with bars, trampolines, beams, floor and vault, to ensure your child get the full Olympian experience across 5 pieces of apparatus.

Our beliefs

Our goal as a club is to help your child fall in love with gymnastics, and each child is different. Whether your gymnast loves working hard and striving for medals in competitions, or training with their coach to learn new skills, or simply working with their friends on their favourite piece of equipment; we’re here to help them thrive.

We understand that some parents may want their child to be the next Simone Biles or Max Whitlock, but that just simply isn’t in every child’s destiny. We work with your child to help them achieve goals suited to their needs, and make sure they’re enjoying their gymnastics journey every step of the way.

One of the ways we keep our gymnasts on track with their gymnastics progression is through our certificate programme. Children work their way through 8 levels of certificates made from floor skills that progress onto one another. As well as this, we also train our gymnasts towards competitions every other term. At our club, children have the choice of whether they’d like to compete and usually can choose between a few different routines to learn and execute at the competition. Winners receive trophies and medals, and everyone who attends is rewarded with a certificate for their hard work.

Progression however isn’t always just about gymnastics skills. We look to create a positive development in our sessions that allows your child to develop mentally and socially, and to try their best without fear of being judged. We help break the ice with new participants by playing a game at the start of every session to warm the class up, and by often pairing them with another gymnast of similar ability or age.

Our future

We have big plans on the horizon for our club, with six new classes being lauched in 2024, including sessions specifically for children aged 4-5 years old and children who are in home education. Other plans include expanding to new schools for our PE sessions and afterschool clubs, improving our certificate programme, purchasing new equipment and mats to better the quality of our sessions and releasing more gymnastics wear later in the year including t-shirts, grip socks and bar hand guards.

We’re always open to ideas! If you have any feedback about our club, please remember all coaches are approachable at the end of sessions, or feel free to contact us via email.
