  • Active Gym has been training gymnasts in Walsall for 20 years. We’re a team of experienced, British Gymnastics qualified coaches that are enthusiastic about what we do. Our aim is to support your child as they fall in love with gymnastics, and to help them achieve their goals across all apparatus.

  • Although many of our gymnasts do opt to wear our navy blue leotards and shorts, or hawaiian blue hoodies, these are not compulsory. Children are welcome in sports clothes or simply clothes they can move around in. On the weeks leading up Christmas and other holidays, festive jumpers are perfect.

We do advise that gymnasts go barefoot or wear special gymnastics/trampolining socks with grips on the bottom.

Long hair should be tied back or plaited, and all jewellery should be removed or covered.

  • Your child’s first session with us is completely free of charge. Afterwards, sessions are paid for via Direct Debit on the 1st of the month. Sessions follow the below pricing structure:

    1 hour classes - £25.00/monthly

    1.5 hour classes - £37.00/monthly

    2 hour classes - £48.00/monthly

More information (including discounts) available here.

  • The Terms and Conditions of Active Gym are in place from the 31st May 2024. If you have brought your child to an Active Gym session from this date onwards, you automatically agree to these terms.

Our Terms provide information on our payment policy, cancellations, absences, your responsibilites, health and safety and more. For this reason it is crucial you are familiar with their contents.

  • GoCardless is our partner for managing our Direct Debits. They are secure, and are trusted by over 85,000 businesses.

For more information on GoCardless and Direct Debits, please visit their website.

  • All of our sessions begin with a warm up- usually with a game. We find this is a great way to break the ice for anxious new gymnasts and for them to get to know their coaches.

After stretching, gymnasts are moved into groups depending on ability, age, experience and height. This ensures that each child is with others that are similar to them.

Each group of gymnasts then begins moving around the equipment with their coach. Some of our equipment includes: bars, beam, trampoline, vault and floor. Whilst on the equipment, their coach will work to challenge the group of gymnasts to new skills and will look to progress their ability across all pieces.

At the end of the class, each coach takes some time to speak with their gymnasts and evaluate their session, before dismissing them off to their adult.

  • Booking in your little gymnast is simple and is done online in less than two minutes. We’ll ask you for some necessary information such as emergency contact details.

Once we’ve got everything we need, you’re welcome to bring your child to their free trial session. This will be the session they then attend reguarly if they enjoy their class.

Please note that some sessions are fully booked and will not be available to book online. For these session, please add your child to the waiting list using the same link.

Waiting lists can vary in length and depend on the number of gymnasts in the session. We’re aiming to open up new sessions for gymnasts to attend soon. A rough estimate on the wait time is a couple of weeks to a few months, but that does differ from class to class. We recommend adding your child to as many waiting lists as you’re available for to shorten the wait time until you’re in sessions with us.

  • The fees for the first month of your child’s gymnastics are reduced as their first session is free of charge.

You will receive an email a few days after your child’s first session with us with the details of how much will be due for their first month of classes.

  • We host gymnastics club sessions in three centres in Walsall:

Bloxwich Active Living Centre, High St, Bloxwich, Walsall WS3 2DA

Oak Park Active Living Centre, Coppice Rd, Walsall Wood, Walsall WS9 9BH

Manor Farm Community Centre, King George Cres, Walsall WS4 1EU

For more information on our session timetables, please visit Sessions.

  • The monthly gymnastics fee is the same for each month of the year except August for which there are no fees due.

The monthly fee is calculated by totalling the amount for all the sessions in the year and dividing it by 11 months for 11 equal payments. This means the fee is the same whether there are 5 gymnastics classes in the month or 3 classes.

Monthly fees must be set up via Direct Debit on the 1st of each month to ensure your child’s space at gymnastics is secured. If full payment is not received then your child is at risk of losing their space in the session.

  • Children who attend sessions in one class are welcome to switch to a different one at the beginning of a new month, providing that the class has availability and they are booked on beforehand. This is best arranged by email.

If the desired session you’d like to swap your child to is currently full, please add them to the waiting list instead and we’ll be in touch as soon as we have space.

  • We take photo consent seriously at our club, and take the following steps to protect our members:

    1. We always ask your permission to take photographs of your child when you first sign them up to join our club.

    2. We only take photos on club-owned, password encrypted devices, that are only managed by a select few people in our club.

    3. We ask spectators to only take photos of their child, and to avoid any photography that will feature another child.

If you have any questions about photo consent at Active Gym, please see our Terms and Conditions.

  • You’re welcome to drop off and pick up your child from our sessions, providing they have been signed in at our desk and we have contact information for you.

  • We continue on as normal during half term holidays in October, February and May half term.

We take a break from our regular term-time gymnastics during Christmas, Easter and Summer holidays. However, we often host holidays camps in the mornings or afternoons.

Holiday camps can be booked on onto here.

If you’re looking to find out when the last session is before the Summer holidays, please see our Term Dates.

  • We offer discounts for children who attend multiple sessions per week and for siblings who share a household. Click here for more info.

  • Yes, we do! We look to host several competitions a year, specialising in floor and vault. Gymnasts train for competitions in our sessions and are then judged on the day by British Gymnastics qualified judges.

Regardless of experience, all gymnasts are welcome to participate in our competitions and receive a certificate of achievement for their hard work, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd earning medals.

    More info available here!

  • We’ve created a certificate programme to give gymnasts a goal to work towards and to help coaches with planning sessions. Children are tested to see if they can reach the next level of certificate around every 4-6 months. Certificates cost £2.00.

  • The majority of our classes are 2 hours long. This gives us enough time to really focus on each piece of apparatus. We typically spend 20 minutes warming up and stretching, 20 minutes practicing skills on the floor, and 20 minutes on four different pieces of equipment (trampoline, bars, beam, vault/air track).

  • We are! Visit Careers for more info.
